Every child is welcome and special to us at Small Talk Nurseries, no matter their gender, culture or any other circumstance. We work together with each family to ensure that the child is provided with the best opportunities to meet their individual needs so that they may develop to their best potential.
We pride ourselves on providing a loving, friendly and inviting atmosphere where children feel welcomed and happy.
The team across the Small Talk Nurseries family is made up of multicultural staff, many of whom speak more than one language. All our staff are qualified to at least a level 3 or above in childcare. They all offer support to both the children and their parents to ensure that all needs are met.
Our aim is to create a home from home environment to support children’s emotional wellbeing and to support all families where possible. Therefore, we offer a varied range of sessions, paid and funded, to suit the needs of both parents and children.
When your child starts with us, you will receive an e-mail that allows you to log on to our Parentzone app and access your child’s Learning Journey. This enables you to see what your child has been up to in the nursery through photos and videos and any daily messages. You are also able to communicate with your child’s key person through a messaging service.
For extra peace of mind, CCTV operates throughout the nursery and covers most areas both indoor and outdoor.
Being outdoors enables our children to learn in different ways and experience different things. All our children love being outdoors exploring nature and having a different sense of freedom. The children are taken on outings to a variety of different places such as the park, the library, the local shops and to the farm.
At Small Talk Nurseries – Castle Bromwich we have a small outdoor area where children can release some energy in small groups and get fresh air daily. However, we have access to the local church gardens, where the children can explore nature and enjoy physical activities.
We also venture further out on day trips to other places such as the nature centre, Cadbury world and indoor soft play or trampoline centres. Once a year we go on our nursery annual trip, usually to the seaside or a larger theme park.
All trips and outings are pre planned and risk assessed, and permission gained from parents and carers.
We have great links within the community such as the local schools and children’s centres and have developed great relationships. We promote integration and information sharing with the local schools to ensure our children have a smooth transition to reception.
We serve a range of different meals throughout the day to ensure your child has a balanced diet.
We hold a Start Well Award awarded to us in 2017 by Sure Start.
We offer breakfast from 7.30am till 8.45am which consists of a choice of cereals, toast with a choice of spread and water or milk.
For lunch a freshly prepared meal is made by our onsite cook daily and is served between 11am and 11.15am, taking into account the dietary needs of the children who attend. Special dietary needs will always be catered for.
At tea time around 3.30pm a light hot or cold meal is provided and consists of sandwiches, soups, pizza etc.
All menus are displayed outside the kitchen and are updated regularly.
